At Behemoth Books, we offer our authors professional editorial and proofreading services. Our experienced editor specialises in all types of content whether fiction or non-fiction, a research paper or a short article. Since every manuscript is unique by nature, our editor will carefully review your manuscript and will provide a personalised, in-depth response to each manuscript submitted.

Option 1: Proofreading

This is a basic proofreading service, suitable for writers looking to have typographical, grammatical or formatting errors corrected, as well as improper word usage. In summary, this service includes correction of:

- Grammatical errors

- Style errors

- Formatting errors

- Typographical errors

Option 2: Editorial

This service includes proofreading (as outlined in option 1), with additional editorial input. This service is for writers wishing to gain a 'second opinion' on their work in the form of a professional critique, and would include suggestions of potential minor revisions to the manuscript. It would be ideal for those who wish to 'polish' their writing by eliminating repetition, awkward phrasing and superfluous words and phrases This service includes:

- Correction of grammatical errors

- Correction of style errors

- Correction of formatting errors

- Correction of typographical errors

- Critical review of the plot and its development (applicable to fiction)

- Review of the overall content and structure of the piece

- Review and analysis of the tone, level and approach of the piece

Method

All changes are made directly to the original MS Word document with “track changes” functionality enabled; further suggested changes will appear on the edited document in the form of inserted comments. This method is used in both proofreading and editorial reviews of your work.

About the editor

The editor is an experienced proofreading and copy editing professional. A journalist with extensive experience in freelance copy writing, he is currently employed as a financial correspondent at the London office of a global news agency. He holds two degrees in English Literature.

Submitting your work for review.

All manuscripts are submitted to the editor in the form of an unprotected MS Word document. We treat all manuscripts with extreme confidentiality and will not disclose the contents to third parties. Please email your manuscript in the required format to: editor@behemoth-books.com.

Lead times

All manuscripts will require a different amount of time to process. Therefore, we do not provide a fixed timeline of when the work will be completed in order not to compromise the quality of our services. Instead, a timeline is agreed with our editor in advance by forwarding manuscripts to editor@behemoth-books.com. All writers should specify their preferred option (proofreading or editorial) prior to timeline discussion. Our editor will then estimate the lead time based on:

- Total number of words

- Whether your work is fiction or non-fiction (non-fiction typically takes longer to proofread and edit)

- The type of publication e.g. novel, short story, poem, research paper.

Prices

Our price structure (only in GBP) for both option 1 and option 2 is based exclusively on word count.

We accept payments online through PayPal, Google Checkout or by credit/debit card. All payments are made in advance online through Behemoth Books automated payment process. Please make sure you have agreed the timeline with our editor in advance before submitting your payment. The editor will commence work as soon as your payment has cleared.

* for manuscripts with more than 100,000 words, the price will be charged based on % word increase so for example for manuscript of 125,000 words, there is a 25% increase in number of words therefore proofreading service will cost 200 GBP and editorial service will cost 312.5GBP
